GuitarJigs.Com: Sanding Bowl

Sanding Bowls

Sanding Bowls are used to prepare the guitar frame to receive the top and back, prepare the sides before liners are glued on, & sand brace stock to the exact arch desired.
Each bowl is covered with 50 Grit sandpaper & can be fastened to a square base plate for clamping ease (as shown here).
Bowls are available with 12', 15', 20', 25', 28', 30', & custom radii.
The 12', 15', & 20' radius bowls are common for backs, and the 25', 28', & 30' are common for tops.
Replacement oversized sandpaper discs also available.
Instructions for use
1. The guitar frame is first marked with the desired arches by tracing the contour of the bowls. This is done while the frame is in the mold.  2. The frame is then carved with a chisel or plane until it resembles the arch of the bowl.  3. Place the frame in the bowl and rotate until the frame makes full contact with the bowl.  4. The liners can now be glued on.  5. The liners can now be sanded down to the same state as the rest of the frame.  The frame is now ready to receive the top and back.
